Accessibility
How Eychgras approaches accessibility — what is done, what is left to do, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.
1. Our commitment
Eychgras is designed to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who navigate with a screen reader, a keyboard, or with any combination of assistive technologies. We aim for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we test against that standard when we ship changes.
2. What currently works well
- Every page uses semantic HTML: proper headings, landmarks, and lists.
- Colour contrast is at or above 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for UI controls, verified for both the light and dark palettes.
- All interactive elements are reachable and operable with the keyboard alone. Focus is always visible.
- Every meaningful image has an alt attribute; decorative images have
alt="". - The site respects
prefers-reduced-motion: animations and scroll reveals are disabled when your system asks for reduced motion. - Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Form controls are labelled and errors are announced in plain language.
3. Known issues we are working on
- The clearance-bar widget on the homepage relies on hover to expose its hints. A keyboard-and-screen-reader path is in the queue for the next release.
- The product photos are stylised SVGs. A photograph pass with detailed alt text is planned for spring 2026.
- Some legacy PDFs (older editorial issues, linked from the archive) do not yet have a fully tagged accessible version.
4. Feedback
If something on the site keeps you from doing what you came to do, we want to know. Write to [email protected] with a short description and — if you are comfortable — the assistive technology you are using. We reply within three working days.
5. Third-party dependencies
We use Google Fonts for typography and Stripe for checkout. Both providers have their own accessibility statements. If a Stripe-hosted page prevents you from completing an order, please contact us at the address above and we will take payment by manual invoice.
