Affiliate Disclosure
How Eychgras handles affiliate links, product placement, and commercial relationships with the brands we write about.
1. What "affiliate" means
An affiliate link is a link that identifies Eychgras to the site it points to, so that the site can pay us a small commission if you follow the link and eventually buy something from them. The price you pay is unchanged; the commission comes out of the seller's margin.
2. When we use them
We use affiliate links only for products or services we have used ourselves for at least one full editorial cycle. We do not accept commissioned reviews. We do not accept product placement inside an article. We do not link to a product we have not tried, no matter how many free samples arrive in the studio.
Every affiliate link on the site is marked with the notation (affiliate) immediately after the link, and every article that contains one carries a note at the top of the piece stating so. If a note is missing, that is a bug — please tell us at [email protected].
3. Programs we participate in
- Bookshop.org — an independent bookseller network. We link to Bookshop for every book we recommend.
- Kobo. For readers who prefer a non-Amazon ebook ecosystem.
- Small direct-affiliate partnerships with three independent European brands whose tools we use daily. Their names appear in the articles that mention them.
We do not participate in Amazon Associates. We are aware of the trade-off in reach; we prefer it that way.
4. What this earns us
Affiliate revenue in 2025 amounted to roughly 4% of Eychgras's operating income; the remainder was newsletter subscriptions (72%), consulting (19%), and shop sales (starting in 2026). We publish this figure so you can gauge how much the incentive matters to us. Short answer: not much.
5. Editorial firewall
Affiliate revenue is invisible to the editorial team while a piece is being written and reviewed. The person who signs off on an article is not the person who checks whether a linked product has an active affiliate agreement. Where the two collide, the article always wins.
